A special soap that cleans and maintains the brush
A high-quality cleaning and care soap in a practical metal round tin for artist brushes. The re-fatting special soap reliably cleans natural hair, bristles, and synthetic fibers and helps maintain their elasticity and suppleness over time. It is suitable for both water-based and acrylic paints and supports gentle yet thorough brush care.
how to clean watercolor brushes properly?
1. Rinse the brush
Watercolor paints should be rinsed thoroughly from the brush with clean water as soon as possible. This prevents paint buildup and hardened bristles.
2. Use Da Vinci brush soap
Clean your brushes regularly with a conditioning soap for natural hair, bristles, and synthetic fibers.
! Avoid degreasing soaps, as they can dry out natural hair and make it brittle.
5. Clean the ferrule thoroughly
When washing the brush, gently work the bristles close to the ferrule. Pigment residues often collect there and can reduce the brush's flexibility and shape over time.
6. Reshape the brush
After cleaning, gently blot the brush with a soft cloth and reshape it to its original form. Artists often refer to this as dressing the brush.
7. Let brushes dry properly
Ideally, allow brushes to dry hanging with the bristles pointing downward. Direct heat, such as from radiators, can damage the hairs, bristles, and wooden handle and weaken the brush head.
