Zirconium Yellow PY159
Zirconium Yellow is made of Pigment Yellow 159 (PY159). It's a rare and warm-leaning yellow pigment made from zirconium-praseodymium silicate. This synthetic inorganic pigment stands out for its unusual granulation, a property not commonly found in yellow pigments. While many yellows are smooth and flat in application, Zirconium Yellow adds a subtle texture to washes.
The hue sits between a soft, sunny mid-yellow and a slightly muted ochre tone, depending on concentration. It has a semi-transparent quality and a moderate tinting strength, meaning it won't dominate in mixes and is better used for subtle layering rather than bold color impact.
